What tennis level are you?

Beginner: Novice players with little to no experience in tennis. They focus on learning basic skills, such as serving and rallying, while becoming familiar with the rules and court movement.

Improver: Players who have grasped basic skills and can rally within the service boxes. They work on consistency, shot placement, and gradually start to expand their court coverage through group lessons and social play.

Intermediate: Competent players who can rally effectively across the full court and execute basic serves. They develop tactical awareness and shot variety, often participating in club competitions to gain match experience.

Advanced: Highly skilled players with strong consistency and strategic play. They can execute complex shots and compete at higher levels, such as club championships or regional tournaments, focusing on refining specific techniques.

What do the different LTA Coaching Levels mean?

LTA Level 1: These coaches support the main coach in group sessions, helping with organisation, feeding balls and simple tips, so they are ideal extra support in larger groups rather than for lead or 1:1 coaching.

LTA Level 2: These coaches can run their own beginner and improver groups, giving clear technical guidance and making sessions fun and well-structured, so they are a good choice for social players and those just starting out.

LTA Level 3: These are qualified club coaches who can plan your coaching over time, offer both group and individual lessons, and tailor sessions to different ages and standards, making them ideal for regular coaching and progressing your game.

LTA Level 4: These experienced coaches often lead club or performance programmes, can manage a coaching team, and work in depth on technique, tactics and competition, so they suit committed players and strong club competitors.

LTA Level 5: These are Master/Performance Coaches who typically work with high?level competitive players, offering detailed technical and tactical development and long?term performance planning, so they are best for serious performance juniors or adults on a clear competitive pathway.

In summary, the qualifications of your coach directly impact the quality of your training experience, providing you with tailored support and expertise as you progress in your tennis journey.
